Myofascial Release Therapy
Gentle Support for Chronic Pain, Mobility, and Structural Balance
Myofascial Release is used at MindBodyArizona as part of Colene Doucette’s individualized therapeutic bodywork approach. It supports people experiencing chronic pain, restricted movement, and long-standing tension patterns. This work is gentle, responsive, and never forced. The intention is to support change through attentive, sustained contact rather than aggressive pressure.
Potential Benefits of MFR:
Improve your range of motion
Reduce soreness and support the tissue recovery process
Improve circulation
Release tension, stiffness & knots
Promote relaxation and stress relief
What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release is a hands-on approach that works with the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, joints, and organs. When fascia becomes restricted due to injury, stress, or repetitive movement, it can contribute to pain and limited mobility. Gentle, sustained contact allows this tissue to soften and reorganize over time, supporting improved ease and movement.
How it is Used in Sessions
Myofascial Release is not applied as a fixed technique. It may be blended with other gentle approaches depending on how your body responds during the session. Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level, with an emphasis on listening to the body rather than pushing for change.
How This Differs From Deep Tissue Work
This approach does not rely on strong pressure or fast movement. It is slower, more attentive, and respectful of the nervous system’s response. Many people who do not tolerate deep tissue work find this approach more manageable.
Who May Benefit
Myofascial Release may be helpful for people who live with chronic or recurring pain, stiffness, postural or movement imbalances, or who feel aggravated after forceful
bodywork. It can also support recovery after injury or surgery. To learn how sessions work overall, visit the Services page.
